Eastern Iowa Honor Flight Flight #52
The Eastern Iowa Honor Flight embarked on its 52nd flight to Washington, D.C., on Sept. 17. A total of 88 veterans from Eastern Iowa participated.
Flight 52 was sponsored by two Central City nonprofits, the Honor Float and Side-by-Side Honor Ride organizations, who have donated over multiple years.
The Eastern Iowa Honor Flight is a non-profit organization devoted to transporting veterans to Washington, D.C., to see the monuments and memorials dedicated to their sacrifice and service at no cost to the veteran. The Honor Flight is a one-day event with around 100 veterans leaving the Eastern Iowa Airport in Cedar Rapids in the morning and returning in the evening, where veterans are welcomed with a patriotic homecoming celebration for their service.
The Eastern Iowa Honor Flight has one more trip scheduled for the fall of 2024. Veterans, guardians, and volunteers can register for future flights by visiting https://eihonorflight.org/new-applications/.
